So, RoboVM is the technology the old classic scanner was built with. Microsoft bought it, then killed it. So it is at, actually past, it's end of life. No longer supported. When software is no longer supported, people don't like their users to use it because it becomes a security risk. If someone discovers a previously unknown vulnerability, it'll never get fix because it's dead. So because RoboVM is dead, the app stores aren't/won't support it. We don't know when they will pull support for apps using it. But it will happen. This is why redacted can't be updated.

So we had a situation where Prime may not be done and Ingress classic would get pulled by the app stores leaving us with no Ingress... Or we release Prime a bit early.

アンドリュー「なので、Ingress Primeが完成せず、Ingress ver.1.xがアプリストアに引き揚げられてIngressがいなくなってしまうという状況が、あるいは、Ingress Primeを予定より少し早くリリースするという状況が起こったんだ。」

And there isn't a straight port from RoboVM to Unity. All the code had to be written from scratch. It's not like a text document that you can just copy and pasted.

So since the code had to be written from scratch, the team decided to implement things the way they have wanted. Like being able to use the client with one hand.

It's also why a redacted skin isn't likely any time soon. Because the buttons, click boxes, everything is in a different location then Prime. So maintaining to separate UIs... Is just not going to happen at this time.

I know. But closed software and the findings now in office and windows with the dataleakage in that software ;) in Europe governements are not all that happy. I have 1 client who is now migrating to OpenOffice because of it.

Haha I don't think you understand how company's work and how share holders who own large chunks of companies invest. They don't invest for you to fork your code to an open source project that forces you to have to provide your code legally to anyone who requests it. That would be a really bad move.

Unity is a better platform anyway. The problem is that prime didn't stick with the look that redacted has. The graphics are small and hard to see. Portals are thin lines, everything is transparent. Bursters are not colored by level, and so in. THAT is what most people have a real problem with.

I won't argue that the graphics choices in some cases weren't the best. But the classic interface is almost seven years old. It needed a change. It'll get better.

Very very few. Look at RedHat and all their issues. Their model was basically a service provider and support provider. Apple built a shit ton of custom features into the Unix base they used. So while part of it MacOSX is open, all the good stuff isn't and never will be.
