Myriad didn't have NIA on ground anywhere, right?

No. There were folks on the ground. But there wasn't an "official" presence. No check-in, stage, after party, kickoff speech, etc.

Andrew Krug: [2019.10.3 4:27]
I was in Lithuania, too. There were folks. But they weren't... hosts... might be the best word I guess.

Andrew Krug, [03.10.19 04:27]
or "official hosts" might be more accurate maybe.

Now that Niantic are charging for anomalies, are they going to change their minds on not being there in an official capacity?

Andrew Krug: [2019.10.3 4:28] [返信先 Paul Davies (YouLostAStar)]
I think that all depends on the format of the event.

Andrew Krug: [2019.10.3 4:29]
I will always try to go to them. Official capacity or not. Can't learn and see first hand from home.

Andrew Krug: [2019.10.3 4:29]
I know there are a number of people going to Sacremento.

Good. I wouldn't want to play a game run by people who don't want play the game. That seldom ends well.

Andrew Krug: [2019.10.3 4:35] [返信先 Sparks Moran]
I think the point your making though is being an active participant in the feedback loop. That is the key.
Even if folks don't play the game. Just being there and interfacing directly to hear, ask questions, and learn is extremely useful. I don't need to be a pro soccer player to understand the english primere league. I can read forums, the news, talk to friends, etc to educate myself. Semi-odd analogy I guess. Point being I don't think you need to be in the weeds daily to understand when something works or doesn't.

Will they be identifiable as Niantic employees though?

Brent Hollett (@perringaiden): [2019.10.3 4:37]
I mean, we all recognize you, John Hanke, and Brian etc, but how much feeback will others accept or identify etc

Andrew Krug: [2019.10.3 4:38] [返信先 Brent Hollett (@perringaiden)]
That's up to the individual. There are times when it is beneficial to not be known to get honest feedback and there are times when it is beneficial to be known to get honest feedback. There is also a level of comfort they have to weigh on a personal scale too.

Andrew Krug: [2019.10.3 4:40] [返信先 Andrew Krug]
There is also a level of expectation that some people project on to employees so it can be a double edged sword. Most of these people are not the decision makers. They, like me, try to inform those people. But I can't begin to tell you how many times someone brings up an issue to me and expects me to fix things or resolve an issue. I'm used to being the effigy of Niantic and being burned. These people were not hired to interface at all with anyone as part of their job description.

@RedSoloCup there is also no ER this time, right?

Andrew Krug: [2019.10.3 4:41]
correct

It would go a long way to making the player base feel that niantic wasnt just a faceless company, but rather were a bunch of gamers, too.

Andrew Krug: [2019.10.3 4:51] [返信先 Crystalwizard (ENL L16 AZ)]
This mentality is faulty at best and comes from focusing on the negative. No one expects a line cook, fry cook, sous chef, or dishwasher to interact with the customers in a restaurant and ask if their pasta was properly salted. It's the GM that walks around, it's the waiters and maybe if you are lucky the exeuctive chef stops by. I'm a waiter. Brian Rose is the GM. John Hanke is the Executive Chef. But I don't think someone who has been hired to be a database administrator with no training in public speaking or handling personal interactions would be the ideal candidate to collect feedback face to face. We could do better to show the team playing the game and highlighting these people. But every minute they spend not doing their actual paid job means something isn't progressing.
